Derby-based G F Tomlinson has scooped the design and build job for Nottingham University’s advanced manufacturing building.

Architect Bond Bryan’s design for the AMB

The firm, which was up again national contractors, won the project with a £15.9m bid.

The university’s 100,000 sq ft landmark building will sit on the edge of its Jubilee Campus and will have a new entrance through on Derby Road.

The city’s grade II-listed Lenton Lodge, which the university acquired last month, will also be a prominent feature.

It will consolidate the University of Nottingham’s manufacturing capabilities with capacity for about 700 staff, students and researchers.

It will house research workshops and laboratories and is hoped to attract top manufacturing companies to work in partnership with the university.

The AMB forms part of a decade-long £100m investment plan by the university into manufacturing research and training.

The architect is Bond Bryan, with Arup acting as structural and services engineer. Turner & Townsend are project manager and Sweett Group are the cost managers.
